Timber Ridge Firewood LTD. would not be what it is today without the people who have impacted us along our journey. We would like to thank our clients, our friends, our families, our business partners and our mentors who have helped us become a household staple in the firewood market.
Timber Ridge Firewood is now a commercial firewood company that provides large volumes of wood for residential use in Calgary and surrounding areas. We also serve the firewood bag market, providing our firewood across AB, BC, SK, and MN to retailers and provincial parks. Years ago, it would have never seemed possible for us to impact as many clients as we do today; however, through dedication, perseverance, hard work and much heart, we have made it to this point. As a family-owned and operated business, we are eager to keep serving our clients, growing forward day-to-day, to enrich and impact the lives of people across Canada.

Hello, my name is Steven Boivin, the CEO of Timber Ridge Firewood LTD., and I want to share with you our story and how we have achieved this.
I started Timber Ridge Firewood in 2016 in my last year of high school. My parents’ arborist company, Timber Ridge Tree Service, would remove local trees in Calgary and Surrounding areas. Over time, they had accumulated a large volume of wood rounds. The need to do something with these wood rounds sparked the idea of splitting the wood from local tree removal and repurposing it into firewood.
My first summer was filled with a tremendous amount of hard work, early mornings, late nights and many more orders than I could have dreamed of. People purchasing and providing positive feedback showed me that there was a need, a desire and an emotional connection to firewood. Firewood to me became the heart of someone’s home, the focal point of social gatherings and something that was experiential and social. It was no longer just a product, but something that positively impacted people’s lives. This discovery gave me the drive and desire to turn this company into something bigger than just a small firewood business.
Fast forward a couple of years to 2019, and I was running out of human capital. My brother had been watching me trying to do it all. I was a university student, heavily involved in extracurriculars, running a company, and working another job so that I did not have to take money out of my own business to keep growing and investing everything back into it. They say hindsight is 20/20, but looking back, I was spread pretty thin, and 100-hour work weeks were getting exhausting. He took my exhaustion as a business opportunity to become my partner and grow this company together into something we could be proud of.
When my brother Nicholas joined the company, it completely changed the framework of what was possible. All the things I had always wanted to do, I would finally have the time to do with help. This relationship became invaluable to the company’s success and allowed us to continue growing. Instead of 100-hour workweeks for one person, there were now two people able to put in 100-hour workweeks.

We saw a massive spike in recreational outdoor activities that fuelled an increase in firewood sales across the market. This change created new opportunities and many new challenges in the firewood world.
Between national wood shortages and unforeseen demand, it created a volatile environment for us to exist in. However, through perseverance and with the help of our clients, we have been able to continue growing and thriving in these uncertain times. We established commercial relationships to serve firewood bags across Canada.
